About the Author

Edgel F. Liechty was born in 1931 in Utah, during the height of the Great Depression. He is now ninety-three years old. His education has been mostly self-taught, with extensive reading on a variety of subjects, including religion, history, and economics. Although he has six years of university credits, his learning has largely been independent.

Edgel’s life has spanned the recovery years following the Great Depression, the WWII years, and all the growth since the war’s end. He and his wife have a combined family of fourteen children, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Edgel spent most of his career repairing typewriters and other mechanical office machines, and now keeps himself busy in retirement by servicing grandfather clocks and other antique clocks.
